CQ WW CW 2008
Also this year for 3rd time I joined this contest. For me, are CQ WW and WPX CW best contests in the year season. I was not absolutelly healthy, despite that I participated in contest for while, cq ww is only once a year. Before weekend we was here quite windy 10–15m/s and I hoped our antenna survive. As most winds here blown from west and antenna was hit by them, this one from south east return antenna to straight vertical position, hi.
QRV on 40m-10m with our vertical and 756pro2. In previous day after long time I successfuly configured CW keying from writelog. Added shortcut for building bandmap from entered calls and enabled audio recording via writelog for test. I did not use dxcluster. Every qso made as S&P. I slept all night so I was qrv only over days and I am sure I missed several QSOs on 40m.
Condx on 15m were prety poor. I made only half amount of QSO than in '07. But most of QSO on 15m were, for me, to DX locations i.e. VU,3X,5H,ZS,8Q.. On 10m worked only 3 qso to OM and 5B. In afternoons I worked a lot of K and VE stations on 20m. It was real joy, especially if they put callsign after every QSO. Unfortunatelly after several tries I did not reach zone 3 neither zone 2. This year I was little more time on 40m and it was nice “harvesting” of EU stations.
I incresead live time of my bandmap spots to 1 hour and I built it manually as I was tuning through the band. Then I saw nicely free space where I could found “hidden” new stations.
Great contest, finally worked 444 QSOs. Funny was ,day after, when I checked logbook from cq ww 07 and found out I worked 333 QSOs, hi.
